The brand new Ipswich "Sackers" Witches were introduced to the press on Wednesday March 9th and to a large contingent of fans that attended the 'Meet The Riders' evening at the nearby Kesgrave Social Club. There was a huge buzz of excitement at both events and Adrian Dodds, joint MD of Sackers Recycling, said afterwards "I’m really excited about the new season. Sponsoring the Witches was a great opportunity for both us and the Witches. I’m glad we took it.”
The two practice sessions at Foxhall Stadium went very well and the team can't wait to get racing! They don't have long to wait now as next Thursday the Rye House "Silver Ski" Rockets will land at Foxhall Stadium for the first leg of the Anglian Cup, quickly followed by the second leg at Hoddesdon on Saturday 19th (start time 7:00pm). The Rockets line-up includes Ritchie Hawkins who made several impressive appearances as the Witches number eight last season and the young Aussie debutante Tyson Nelson (who is to be known as just 'Nelson').
Director of Speedway, Chris Louis, believes 2011 will be the most exciting season at Foxhall for many years. "I don't remember such camaraderie and general excitement in the pits for many seasons, this is an exceptional bunch of lads. The work ethic to help each other in finding the best set up with the new silencers over the two practise days was very pleasing to see. We had a team meeting afterwards to decide on track conditions for Thursday and the boys know exactly what they want and with our track curator Bob that is exactly what they will get. Bring on those Rockets!
